Doing pretty good.

So its been a while since my last post. I have had 3 home games since then and also some online play.

I'm gonna keep this post short.

I just recovered from a large losing streak in my live games. It was from a combination of bad luck and bad play. I lost $15 and $5 then won $17.50 and $1.50 bringing the years total to $32. I now have my confidence back, and I am playing much better than before.

Online, I have been playing some cash games despite them being above my bankroll. I have been pretty successful and I have brought my online bankroll back up to $26.49

Anyways, thats it for this week.

Some bad luck this week.

So I guess I will start with the home game this week. It did not go so well, I lost ten dollars. This brings my years total down to $33. I was card dead all night. I was only dealt two pocket pairs, nines and queens. I lost both hands. The first hand, nines, I raised, Taylor and Sam called. The flop came 789 rainbow. So I raised again with top set. Turn was an A, being a short stack, I decided to move all in. Both Sam and Taylor called. The river brought a jack. Taylor showed J7 and Sam had A10 for the straight. I bought in again and managed to stay alive for a long time despite being card dead. After a while I was down to 22ish chips and I was dealt QQ. I moved all in preflop. Sam and Boston both called me. Boston had AK of spades, and Sam had 66. The flop came 699 giving sam the full house.

Over all it was definitely Sam's night. He bought out for $18, so congratulations Sam.

I didn't get to play online as much as I would have liked. I ended up only playing 5 or 6 SnGs. I won a little bit and brought my bankroll up to $19.84. The play was pretty standard, however, there is one hand that I want to discuss. In full tilt you can save your hand histories and then copy paste them, so here is the hand history, lets hope that I got it formatted correctly.

Flop: (t330) Q, 2, 2 (3 players)

SB checks, MP2 checks, David Hessy bets t250, SB calls t250, MP2 raises to t1265 (All-In), David Hessy folds, 1 fold

Total pot: t1080

The hands that I think he could have there would be AA, KK, QQ, Q2, 22, AQ, A2, and 23s.

I ruled out AA, KK, QQ, and AQ because he would have reraised me preflop. I thought that he would have folded Q2 preflop, So that really only left A2 and 23s. So I folded. Im still not sure if it was the right decision, however I did go on to take third place and he lost so that was good.

Anyways, outside of poker I am looking for a job now. It sucks and I wish that poker could be my job, but thats pretty unrealistic.

Again, I will end with a link to a cool website. My bud Todo showed me this webcomic a couple of months ago. its a pretty awesome web comic about poker. http://plusev.keenspot.com/

First Post

So, there are three major reasons that I am starting a blog. First, I think that talking about my poker playing will help me analyze my game and allow me to improve. Second, I am going to use this blog as a medium through which I can set my poker goals, and third, I think that writing will help me vent my frustrations over bad beats and stupid losses. On top of that, I am also going to use this blog as a way to talk about random shit that I find interesting or funny.

My first goal is to make at least $300 in my home live games. So far I am up $43 dollars for the year. I think that if I play every week, and I am consistent in my play, I can achieve that goal.

My second goal is to turn around my online playing. I bought in to the site full tilt poker for $50 in September. Through a combination of bad luck, bad playing, not paying attention, and playing heads up matches (which I am terrible at), I am now down to $18.43. My goal is to turn that into$500 by 2010. This goal sounds very lofty, however I feel confident that if I am disciplined and I play well, I can achieve it.

Lately I have been playing the $2 + $0.15 nine man single table SnG's. In these, the top three spots pay, and first takes $9. In the last three that I have played, I have taken 1st place twice and 5th place once. I plan on playing these until my bankroll is around 40 or 50 dollars. After that I am going to start playing the 90 person $3 + $0.30 turbo, knockout, doublestack tournaments. I played two of them today, and they were very soft. Most of the players were practically giving chips away. Plus, 1st place takes $72, and the top nine places pay.

For those of you who read this and aren't poker savvy, if you don't understand any poker terminology that I have used, you can ask me and I will explain.

Anyways, I will end with this. http://zombietools.net/ Really, cool, and based in Missoula.
